DESCRIPTION

Coque was found wandering as a stray. We can only imagine he had been living like this sometime, because of the condition he was in and how fearful he was of people.

He was taken in to the local pound originally, but with the limited interaction the dogs there receive daily, we knew it wouldn't be detrimental for him to stay there. As soon as possible, we moved him to the boarding kennel we worked with in northern Spain.

There he has slowly learnt that not everything is terrifying and that not all people are bad. With lots of time and patience he can be touched, handled and he is starting to see the fun in life.

Coque shares his space with male and female dogs. Generally he is good around them, but he has his preferred friends at the kennels and he can be selective in his friendships (his preference seems to be for Shepherd mixes!). We imagine this stems from insecurity, so with slow, careful introductions we feel he could share his home with another dog.

He is very active and lively when he plays, so he's definitely a dog that would benefit from close doggy friends in his new home.

With people, he is still learning to trust, and this will be an ongoing process once he's found his family. He hasn't shown any aggression with the lady who runs the boarding kennel, he's just a very frightened boy who needs time to develop a bond and really relax around humans.

A calm home with lots of time to dedicate to him would be ideal, all the while respecting his boundaries as his confidence builds. A stable routine, without many visitors would be best suited to Coque, and he does need an adult only home with experience bringing on nervous dogs.

Coque is still a young boy who enjoys exploring and playing, so a fenced garden in a rural area would be perfect.

Coque is quite clean in kennels - but he may need to re-learn his housetraining once in a new setting. He has been walked on the lead, but his future family should prepare to work on this with him - building positive associations over time. He may also be new to life in a home, so he will need a very patient, understanding family who help him settle in at his own pace.

If you would like to know more about the lovely Coque, please get in touch. We would be happy to tell you more about him and explain our adoption process. After all he's been through, we would love to see him happy and loved in a home of his own.

Coque will travel to the UK (England or Wales, but not Scotland) vaccinated, microchipped, neutered and tested for Mediterranean diseases.
