DESCRIPTION

This little sweetie is Nut, a cross breed girl of 2.5 years of age. She came to us as a stray. She was found roaming and taken to the local pound in Northern Spain, where she was so nervous and wary of people, she would show her teeth and back away. Who knows what the poor little girl had been through to become so fearful. Luckily we managed to get her out of the pound and into boarding kennels, where she has started to come out of her shell and trust people don’t always mean bad things.  Nut’s progress has been fantastic. When some of the volunteers went to visit her, she timidly approached and let herself be picked up and cuddled. She began to relax and almost let herself enjoy it, so we feel lots of patient, gentle affection will do wonders in bringing her back to the happy, confident she should be. She is really coming out of her shell and enjoying company and attention now, and she’s great with the other dogs. Her past memories and fear, won’t have just disappeared, and so we feel an adult only home, in a calmer environment would be best. Busy, noisy households with lots of coming and going could overwhelm this sensitive soul, so we feel a home with a stable routine and experienced adopters would be best.

She recently moved into foster care in Spain and we got to see what a wonderful companion she will make someone. She is clean in the house, playful, settled well and very clever, picking up the routine of the home after only a few days. On the lead she can be a bit nervous, so she will need someone patient who can go at her pace on walks and help her to build her confidence. She is playful and still a young girl, so someone who is fairly active and has the time to help her learn and settle in. She is a little shy on first meetings, but soon warms up and becomes very cuddly and happy to be in a home. Nut is a special girl, and we feel she will make a wonderful companion.

Nut cannot be tested around cats and children. A fenced garden would be ideal, though we will evaluate other setups on a case by case basis, as we feel with the right exercise and stimulation, she could be happy living without a garden. She is a smart girl and needs a home who is happy to spend time with her and continue her training. Someone who is patient and has the time to support her to gain more confidence and and show her gentle new things and experiences. This can be extremely rewarding, but it requires commitment and the understanding that everything is different and new for the dog, and progress can take time. If you’ve fallen in love with this sweet face, please get in touch. Nut is vaccinated, neutered and chipped and will travel with her pet passport and tested for Mediterranean diseases. We rehome to Wales and England, but NOT Scotland.
